2.4 Handling Client Money

Handling client payments on account.

Since we no longer operate a Client Account, we will ask for at least 50% up front, making sure that we at least cover our expected outgoings in the matter.

After a quotation/pro-forma invoice is sent to the client for work to be commenced, payments on account are taken using the following methods:

  • Credit card/debit card; or (preferably)
  • Bacs transfer direct into our account. (Since Barclays have withdrawn the Client Account facility, the payments will have to go into our main Sterling account).

If the client wants to pay by Debit/Credit card, we will need to send a payment link. The procedure for this is set out in 2.4.1

Handling any Incoming Payment Please see 2.4.2 Allocating Received Money

Receiving Cash Payments Cash payments are generally inconvenient for us for several reasons:

  • The bank charges us a not inconsiderable sum to receive cash into our account;
  • Holding large amounts of cash in the office is highly undesirable;
  • Transporting large amounts of cash to the bank exposes the carrier to unnecessary risk.

Accordingly, we will not accept cash payments larger than £200.
